Ricardo Cabello’s creation of Three.js in 2010 dramatically lowered the barrier to web-based 3D. From his demoscene roots to founding a library used by countless creators, he made GPU-accelerated, browser-native 3D accessible. “I created it because I needed it. HTML5 needed it. And turns out many others needed it.” His work laid the foundation of the immersive web.
